Constance Millas Hill left her earthly body on November 15th, and went to be with her husband, Stanford R. Hill, her parents and her brother, Buddy. “Connie” was born on November 6, 1930 in Kinston, NC and lived there for most of her life. At age 19, she married Stanford “Shorty” Hill and later had a son, Stanford Hill, Jr. Connie’s calling was to be a caregiver. During her life, she volunteered at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. In addition, she was a loving and devoted mother and in her later years, spent most of her time caring for her ailing mother and then her husband. Despite being almost completely blind, she considered herself a lucky woman. She was doted on by her loving son and three loving grandchildren as well as several caregivers who considered her family.
Connie never met a stranger, immediately bonding with everybody who crossed her path. She loved her family unconditionally and provided sage advice to everyone.
During her life, she spent lots of time with her grandchildren. She arranged tea parties for the girls and shared family recipes and traditions passed along by her Greek father. But most of all, she told stories. Connie never lost her ability to tell a good story, embellished with all the sass and charisma of a great storyteller. We will miss her stories.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Minnie Millas, her brother Lambros Steve “Buddy” Millas, and her husband, Stanford R. Hill, Sr. She is survived by her son, Stanford Hill, Jr. and wife (Sherry Moss), grandson Alex Hill and granddaughters Olivia and Addison Hill as well as her extended family including step-grandchildren Rachel and Chase McCrary, Lynn Johnson, and caregivers Jolene Cote, Sherry Baxevanis, Barbara Freibott and Magan Gaskins and her chocolate lab companion, Colt.
Arrangements are entrusted to Triad Cremation & Funeral Service of Greensboro.
