Hornsby Danky Moore

June 21, 1952 ~ April 9, 2019 (age 66)

Mr. Hornsby Wendell “Danky” Moore of Graham, North Carolina, went to be with his Savior and Lord on April 9, 2019 at the age of 66.

Wendell was born to parents Floyd and Anna Snipes on June 21, 1952, in Graham, North Carolina. He was adopted by Rev. Wallace B. Moore and Margaret P. Moore and grew up in Graham where he attended Central High School and Graham High School.  He met and married Judy Glenn of Greensboro, North Carolina July 17, 1990.  Wendell is the proud father of two beautiful daughters, Wendy Krystine Moore and Julie Kathleen Moore.  Wendell was a resourceful person who held several jobs during his lifetime.  His most memorable jobs were as Dietician Aid for Springmoor Retirement Community and Custodian for both North Carolina State University and the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Wendell was an avid sports fan who lived and breathed blue.  The Tarheels, Blue Devils and the Carolina Panthers were his focal group in sports.  Whenever the Panthers played, he would put on his Panther sweat shirt and call the plays as if he was the coach.  Eighty-five percent of the time he was more accurate with his calls than the coach.  He was also a western fan and could be found looking at the old westerns of his youth especially Gun Smoke and the Virginians.  He played the drums in the summer band and promote to second position as a drummer at Central High School.  He was the one you didn’t want to stand next to in a choir – could not carry a tune but he knew every word in the songs we sang.

Wendell is survived by his wife and daughters Judy P. Moore, Wendy Krystine Moore and Julie Kathleen Moore.  He is also survived by one sister:  Evelyn Louise Clark, five brothers:  Edward Alex Moore, Thomas Odell Moore, Hubert Leon Moore, Willie Clark and Ronnie Clark.  He is also survived by Sherrie L. Moore (niece and caregiver), Katheryn N. Wicker (special niece), as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his late parents Floyd and Anna Snipes and Rev. Wallace B. and Margaret P. Moore, two sisters Joyce Moore Pryor (Junior), Lillie Mae McBroom (George), four brothers: John Arthur Moore, Wallace B. (Billy) Moore, Jimmy Lee French, Eric LeRoy French.
