Born in Princeton, she grew up in Mercerville, N.J., trained to become a registered nurse at Mercer General Hospital, and became a US Army Nurse and Lieutenant in 1943, serving aboard the US Army Hospital Ship Algonquin in North Africa, Italy and France until 1945. She met her husband, the late Hackett McGuire, while they both were in the New York City area preparing to ship out to Europe during World WAR II.  Meeting in various locations where the hospital ship and the infantry would cross in the Mediterranean area, they became engaged, eventually married in Naples, and lived in Italy during the occupation. They subsequently moved to the New York City metropolitan area, then the Dominican Republic, and back to New Jersey, New York City, Long Island and Florida before Mr. McGuire’s death in 1991. Most recently, Mrs. McGuire had lived in Gibsonia, Pa., and Chapel Hill, N.C.

In addition to being a veteran, Mrs. McGuire had been a nurse in the New York metropolitan area for many years before teaching licensed practical nursing on Long Island for more than a decade.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Rev. William and Mrs. Claire Stryker of Las Vegas, Nev., as well as her three sons and their wives, 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren:

    George Mason says:
"Can a woman forget her nursing child, Or have no compassion for the son of her womb? Even if these women forget, I would never forget you."    (Isaiah 49:15) "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good tnings to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgement."            (John 5:28,29)
