Mary Ruffin, of Greensboro, N.C., passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Beacon Place of Greensboro.
Mary was born in Edenton, N.C. on February 20, 1939 to the late Israel and Harriett Mann. She was educated in the Bertie County School system and worked as a CNA for many years. She was married to Mr. Ernest Lee Ruffin who proceeded her in death in 1998. Mary was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1980 and was a member of the Southwest Congregation in Greensboro, N.C. at the time of her passing. She is survived by her children; Sylvia (Donnell) Rudison, Ernest (Jackie) Ruffin, Mary (Douglas Jr.) Upton, John Ruffin, David (Kyberba) Ruffin, Keith (Mary) Ruffin, Kent Ruffin, Loria Ruffin, Shelia (Joseph) Williams, 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, beloved sister-in-law Geraldine Mann, special cousin Sophie Cherry, special friend Maria Warren, God-daughters Patricia, Tammy, Lisa and a host of nieces, nephews and other cherished family and friends.
“MaMa” was loved by everyone she met. She had a tremendous loving and giving heart. She loved puzzles, trips to the beach, playing the keyboard, visiting extended family, dancing, listening to music, and any activity that involved family gatherings. She was truly the “rock” of her family. MaMa enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends coming together for her home cooking, especially her sweet potato pies. Her greatest joys were spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren and sharing bible truths with everyone she came in contact with. She will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 6:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 4121 Short Farm Rd, Greensboro, N.C 27406.
An additional Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Windsor, N.C.
