Alvertus Branch-Freeman, 74, was clothed in her heavenly home on August 29, 2021 surrounded by her youngest daughter and granddaughter. She was born in Berkeley, South Carolina on January 3, 1947 to the late Norton Branch and Mary Brown Bond.
Mrs. Branch-Freeman is a native of South Carolina and moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1980 where she attended CCB for her high school diploma while owning a family residential cleaning service.
After moving to North Carolina in 1996 she attended A and T for a degree in psychology while working at Walmart in the seafood department. After retiring from Walmart she dedicated herself to her church community and contributing to the well-being of the homeless community in Greensboro, North Carolina where she crocheted homeless mats. She was a long standing member of the Haynes-Taylor YMCA. Mrs. Branch-Freeman also knitted receiving blankets for the maternity ward at the Women's Hospital of Greensboro.
Mrs. Branch-Freeman is survived by her three daughters, Aleshia Smith Stokley, Tierra Epps Dorsey, and Amanda R. Branch-Freeman; two sons, Adrian Epps and Derrell Belser; 8 grandchildren; three brothers, Benjamin Bond, James Bond, and John Bond; and a host of nieces of nephews.
She is preceded in death by her two sisters, Fredrennia Bond and Maryann Cephas.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 3 P.M. at Triad Cremation and Funeral Service, 2110 Veasley Street, Greensboro, NC 27407.
