Delbert Scott McKray of Stokesdale, NC passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
A funeral service will be held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 896 0ld Winston Rd. Kernersville, on Sunday, January 9 at 3:00 pm. Pastor Charles Ferguson will be officiating.
Mr. McKray was born In Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Donald Scott McKray and Sarah Bess Scott. He was a truck driver for many years, hauling furniture for Claude Gable Co. in High Point, NC. He later worked at Carter High School of Winston-Salem, NC. He was a long standing member of the Kernersville Seventh-day Adventist Church and is remembered by his church family as having a love for his Savior and a passion for evangelism. Friends and family recall many camping and backpacking trips with Del, who thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and the fellowship.
Preceded in death by daughters Kimberly Woods, Billie Drennen, brother Don Scott McKray, grandson Derek Woods, and great-grandson Gavin Gauze.
Del is survived by his loving wife Luisa McKray of 19 years. Children Scott McKray of the home, Rena Gobble (Kenneth) of Mount Gilead, and Stacy Garner (Kenneth) of Kernersville. Grandchildren Matthew Scott, Chelsea, Samantha, Blake, Andrew, Kendra, Victoria, Gary, Gwenneth Grace, Nathan, and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Kernersville Seventh-day Adventist Church (Evangelism fund) or Brenner Children's Hospital.
