Dwayne Andrew Speight was born on March 29, 1960, to Paul (deceased 2006) and Margaret (deceased 2010). Dwayne grew up in The Bronx and attended Stevenson High School. He graduated from The University of Phoenix, earning a bachelor’s degree, and graduated from a technology school, Per Scholas, receiving a certificate in Information Technology. Dwayne held many jobs before beginning his career in technology, working for Compaq, Hewlett Packard, and Syngenta.
Dwayne grew up in a large family as the middle child in an active home of seven brothers and two sisters and a close community of friends and neighbors in the Soundview section of The Bronx. He and Carlene married in 1991 and had three children: Lakiesha, Christopher, and Shanice Speight.
Dwayne met Deborah and they married on February 5, 2002. Deborah and Dwayne spent a blissful 22 years together as each other's constant and loving companion.
Dwayne has 4 stepdaughters, Keosha Fuller, Leslie Jackson, Takara Jenkins and Takia Jenkins and 16 grandchildren. 3 brother-in-law, Jeffrey Barnette, Hayward Peterson and Frederick Barnette.
Dwayne loved clothes, dogs, music, and spending quality time with his wife, Deborah, and his friends. He was generous with his time, affection, and advice. Narcotics Anonymous was a way of life for Dwayne he lived and died clean.
Even as he struggled with health issues in recent years, he was upbeat and looked at the glass half-full rather than half-emptied.
We will all miss him.
Dwayne was predeceased by his parents, Margaret (2010) and Paul (2006), and his brother Donald (2020), sister-in-law Felicia (2012), and brother, Souvann (2012).
Left to mourn are his beloved wife Deborah (North Carolina), his children Lakiesha (New York), Christopher (New York), and Shanice (New York). His sisters, Dedei (Georgia) and Michell (New York), and brothers, Lyndon (New York), Keith (New York), Darrin (New York), and Calvin (New York); his former wife Carlene (New York) and a host of aunts, grandchildren and step-children, uncles, nieces, and nephews, cousins, and friends throughout the United States, England, and Canada.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 10 am with a memorial service following 11 am in the memorial chapel of Triad Cremation and Funeral Service, 2110 Servomation Road, Greensboro, NC 27407.
