Fentress Gattis Davis, 76, of Greensboro, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 7, 2020. Gattis was born August 23, 1943 in Guilford County to the late Fentress Gattis Davis, Sr. and Cynthia Kellam-Davis-Carr. He attended Ragsdale High School in Jamestown, NC. He is a veteran of the US Army and was stationed at the DMZ in Korea in 1962-63. He was employed with Guilford Mills Inc., in Greesnboro for 32 years until they closed, and then worked and retired from Fairystone Fabric in Burlington.
Gattis was simple man who lived a simple life, and he never met a stranger. He was a devoted, loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a kind, sweet, humble, man gifted with an extraordinarily peaceful demeanor and mannerism.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 53 years, Betsy Ingraham Davis; sisters, Bonnie Davis-Tharp, Cynthia LaVerne Davis-Money and husband, Donald, Renae Davis-Dean, Nadyne Davis-Roberts; and brothers, Jerome Lester Davis, Gary Anthony Davis; sister-in-law, Allison Belottte-Davis, wife of his previously deceased brother, Vincent Joel Davis. He dearly loved Betsy’s family. Gattis also had many nieces and nephews whom he fondly loved.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 Thursday February 13, 2020 at Triad Cremation & Funeral Service Chapel 2110 Veasley St. Greensboro, NC 27407 with Pastor Doug Huff officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Beacon Place at Hospice of Greensboro. The family would like to express their heart-felt appreciation to the caregivers, chaplains, and staff of Beacon Place for the exceptional care and comfort they provided.
