Obituary

James Andrew Gibbons (62) was born on October 7, 1958 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was raised in New Jersey and later lived in Greensboro NC. He was called home Friday, September 3, 2021. He was surrounded by his wife and children.

He is survived by his wife Debbie and their children, Nicole and her husband Glenn, Danielle and her husband Chris, son James and grandchildren Grace, Andrew, Jackson and Alexandria. He is also survived by his mother Jean, siblings Kean, Keith, Laura, David and Bobby. As well as an aunt, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Kimie and father James.

Jim loyally served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1976-1980. During his service he earned an education in military auto mechanics spending most of his service as an Organic Auto Mechanic and completed his service as an MP. He was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal and held a rifle marksman badge. He married the love of his life in 1981 and together they raised a family. He was a simple and humble man, with a commanding personality and a matchless sense of wit. He loved sports, particularly the Yankees, NASCAR, Duke basketball and Notre Dame football. He enjoyed sporting events and concerts. He was a black belt in Taekwando and business owner.

He was a bright light in a dark world and will be forever missed dearly.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Triad Cremation and Funeral Service in Greensboro. Military Honors will take place at 1:00 PM.
