Lewis "DJ Swift" Armstrong

Lewis Jerome Armstrong AKA DJ Swift passed away at home on March 26, 2023. Lewis was born April 30, 1972, in Winston-Salem, NC to Peggy B. Nelson and Vernon Armstrong.

Lewis attended James B. Dudley High School. He was employed with O’Malley Investments in Southern Pines, NC.

 Lewis was a DJ, a musician, a brother, a loving father, a grandfather, and a friend to many.  Lewis fell in love with music at age 8. He loved old school hip hop and vinyl records. One of his favorite memories was DJing for Wu Tang Clan in the 90’s. Music was his passion, his peace, his truth …his everything. To know him was to know his love of music.

He enjoyed good food – especially his mother’s cooking. Long after she passed, he would talk about his love of her pound cake. He loved traveling. Lewis was a very spiritual man. Lewis was a loving man that loved his kids, his family, and his friends.  He had an entrepreneurial mindset and was always on his grind. He was full of love laughter and high energy.  He had an infectious laugh and a kind heart.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Peggy Nelson and Vernon Armstrong; his maternal and paternal grandparents; Uncles Samuel Sherman, Hollie Sherman and Bobbie Brown.

Lewis is survived by his Stepfather Samuel Nelson and his Aunt Patsy Davenport (John);  his children Markihl N.A. Davis, Heather Wimbush, Nirisha Morton and Essence Armstrong; his siblings Pamela Blade (Franklyn), Ollie Brown (Maria), Marie Faulk (Carlton), and Sabrina Godfrey (Robert); nieces and nephews – Michael Shannon, Christopher Shannon, Steven Craig, Zane Blade, Bianca Blade, Darien Brown, Rachel Brown, Sonia Brown; grandsons Jarrell Washington and Kyree Jerome Davis; special friend Roberta Ambrose; his close friends Derrick Whitsett, Sr. (Nancy), Stevie Humphrey (Vondra), Darius Hinch, Imani Sudderth, Tonya Houston, and DeNoirs Frierson; and his second mom Gwendolyn Davis.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 04, 2023 from 2- 4pm at Triad Cremation & Funeral Service, 2110 Servomation Road, Greensboro, North Carolina 27407.

The family requests that everyone dress casually. A family gathering will follow at the home.
