Norma Jean Masters Burlbaugh, aged 81 passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on March 21, 2020 at Hospice home of the Piedmont. Norma was born on Sept 21, 1938 in New Kensington, Pa. to Katherine Beveridge Masters and Glenn Masters. After her father’s death in 1940, her mother remarried Albert Hagerty who became Mom’s most beloved stepfather and considered her true ‘Dad.’ She attended Indiana State Teachers College in Indiana Pa. and received a degree in Elementary Education. She then Received a Masters Degree from Bowie State University. She worked as a kindergarten teacher at Grace Christian School in Bowie Maryland for over 24 years. Teaching and children were her true passion and she missed teaching until the day she died. My brother put it best: “ She was a kindergarten teacher for decades - and as cliche as it is, if you look in the dictionary under "kindergarten teacher" - there's a picture of my Mom. Kind, patient, witty, silently strong, caring, and - above all else - loving.” She was also a sweet and loving wife, mother and friend and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children: Lori (Greg) Hawkins, Sue (Paul) Mouser and Mike (Brenda) Burlbaugh. She had seven Grandchildren: Sam (Tanner) Hogue, Jessie (Bryce) Suriano, Erika (Jon) Miller, Tyler Mouser, Nathan Mouser, Jacob Burlbaugh and Lucas Burlbaugh. She also had three great granchildren: Maverick, Eden and Piper Hogue.
