Ruth Beatrice (Dietz) Trace

September 3, 1927 ~ November 15, 2021 (age 94)

Ruth Dietz Trace passed away peacefully at the age of 94 with her family by her side in Greensboro, NC where she has lived since 1998. This sweet, loving, caring angel on earth has now made her way to be with the lord and continue her angelic ways.

Born to German immigrants, Karl and Luise Lapple Dietz, Ruth was raised in Lakewood Ohio. In high school she was a member of a dancing trio called the Three Smart Girls and found her favorite dance partner in her husband, Bill (Wilmer C.) Trace. They were married in 1947, had three children and moved to Amherst, OH to raise their family.

Ruth was an avid seamstress and made all her own clothes as well as her daughter’s. She worked for many years at the Amherst Fabric shop helping others perfect their craft. Ruth even made wedding dresses and made one for her daughter which she hand sewed over 2000 pearls on to the hand appliqued pieces of lace.

In 1998, Ruth and her husband, Bill, moved to Greensboro, NC to be closer to their daughter’s family. She worked as an administrative assistant for Cal-Clean until she was 86. Ruth was a member of Fellowship Presbyterian Church where she found a wonderful supportive family of friends and activities.

Ruth moved into Abbotswood and Vera Springs in 2016 and was cared for these last few years by many amazing, caring people including Leah, Wumi, Daniyel, Joyce, Monique and Bookie. We are forever grateful to them as well as her Hospice team with Palliative Care especially Victoria, and Merzy. You are all truly special people!

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Dennis (Lisa) Del Ray Beach, FL, Robert (Tree) Amherst, OH and daughter, Amy (Steve) Greensboro, NC. She also leaves grandchildren Richard and Joseph Ramsey, Marshall Trace, Taylor Trace Stella, Kelsey and Collin Callaghan and Abbie Ferguson as well as 14 great grandchildren.

A celebration of her beautiful life will take place in the spring on April 9, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Fellowship Presbyterian Church, 2005 New Garden Road, Greensboro, NC.

In lieu of flowers at this time, donations can be made to Sanctuary House 518 N. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27401
